Everything was wonderful except a lady named Kayla. She was terrible and super rude. She yelled at the door person because I said hi. I was in my work clothes and Kayla thought I “didn’t belong”. To top it off Kayla asked for a $20 cover, luckily the normal bouncer saw me and greeted me like a normal human. I paid my $5 cover and enjoyed my time. The drag show was a huge bonus!

Visiting the area and had been walking around for a couple of hours so naturally I had a giant 1.5L plastic water bottle. Came in at about 4pm with 3 other friends to break up the walking and have a few drinks. Bartender told me I couldn't have the water, which is fine, so I immediately said no problem because I don't need to drink it inside and that I didn't mind leaving it in his sight on the edge of the bar. Keep in mind there weere maaaaybe 5 people in the bar at the time. He replied saying how does he know if it's vodka inside.. again, it's a rather large bottle to be carrying around booze in during the middle of the day. I stated again that it's just water and I can leave it on the bar or he can keep it behind the bar, didn't really care to throw it away. I didn't intend on drinking any of it at all because we came to drink actual alcohol. This man fixed his lips to tell me that I can hide it outside and come back in without it. This is my first experience with a gay bar in Albany. Not that my money matters much in this situation, clearly, but if I ever come back I absolutely won't go back to this place. This really just didn't make sense and rubbed me the wrong way. I would think the place would be a bit more welcoming/ accommodating.

I had tickets to an event here through an outside promoter. The event was cancelled and I had trouble getting a refund from the promoter, but once I contacted Rocks, they were an amazing help and were able to contact the promoter and get me the refund. Really kind and helpful.

Glad I was able to make it to Rocks one last time. The staff and owners were always welcoming and friendly, and the comradery I felt from the patrons was undeniable. From Sunday cookouts, to Karaoke (my regret was never actually doing Karaoke) to the Albany Bear events, this place always had something going on. On my final outing I stumbled on their Bear Albany event, and I'm glad I did. If there was ever a way to "go out", this was it. It was a complete blast- from the music, to the people, to the overall jubilation of the place. Couldn't have wanted it any other way. For anyone looking to hang out, have a few beverages and have actual conversations with people, this is the place to be. Thank you for the memories and always making me feel welcomed. And just wondering, have you seen a pair of Ray-Ban aviator glasses, which I left on the bar around fall of 2017...?

My friends and I were very impressed with our first time at ROCKS. After having an issue getting into Waterworks with a real ID, and calling the police, we gave ROCKS a try. Thankfully we did. The bartenders were very friendly, the bathroom facilities are clean and the locks on the doors work, and they have touch tunes. We are 100% going back!

Drinks were good, bartender was great but some of the folks who were hanging out there made us pretty uncomfortable New to the area and trying to find gay/queer bars. Not sure if this one was for us

Great place to meet new friends and enjoy time with those you already know. Very casual and welcoming. Music good, too I wish I was younger so I could take full advantage of all they offer... especially dancing. Stay happy and healthy.

Was there for the first time tonight. Ok, I got to see a fight brought on by past relationship issues, but the bouncers/staff handled it well. All offending parties were removed. Other than that, a very mellow and accepting atmosphere. Very inclusive. Not as "cliquy" as its gay neighbor across the road. Met some nice people. Enjoyable, even in this post Covid atmosphere. Gonna make this my new spot
