A truly one of a kind experience. The atmosphere on the 2nd floor was incredibly energetic when I was there, the 1st floor is somber in the best way possible, and the basement is incredibly romantic. If you have plans for a date, gay or straight, you can't go wrong with Tavern!

Great bar as long as you don’t come on Monday or Wednesday because that piano player those days is awful. Every other day is wonderful. Thursday is the best piano player and best bartender. We’ve been coming here for 10 years now.

The waiter downstairs was quite rude when warning us about the area designated for orders. The singing part was disruptive; it sounded more like shouting than actual singing, making for an uncomfortable atmosphere. This place has beautiful potential, and with better management, it could really shine.

We've been there so often over the past. They have a piano bar upstairs. Also a top floor and a basement bar. It used to have a great atmosphere and had awesome service, at one time. Their food was absolutely delicious. However, the last time we were there. We were in the downstairs bar, having something to eat and drink. The bartender, suggested that we go upstairs to the top floor. Apparently something really cool was happening up there. So, we agreed. I paid our check and made sure to tip him. And we started to go upstairs. First to the piano bar and then taking the staircase to the top floor. As we climbed the staircase leading upstairs a security employee apparently blocked the staircase. At the first landing. Then he informed us that it was a "one-way" staircase. And it only went down. And insisted that we use the other staircase. Located at the vestibule, and explained that the vestibule staircase went upstairs. The vestibule leads to the outside. I know the layout of the club, and had never encountered a "one-way" staircase before. But this is what we were being told. By security. We've been going to The Tavern on Camac for years and I never heard of a "one-way' staircase before. But there was a "security-dude". Then he began yelling at us and blocking the staircase. And forcefully pointing at the vestibule. The whole scene became embarrassing. This all happened right in front of the bar area, with staff present. At first I thought it was a misunderstanding. Because, we had only been there for less than an hour. Then I realized that apparently, we were no longer welcome at The Tavern on Camac. And we were apparently being informed of that quite loudly. We haven't been back since. As it was such an embarrassing scene and I felt like people in my own community were now telling me that I was no longer welcome. It's a shame because we live in Midtown. And had always been a part of the club scene for such a long period of time. I guess the neighborhood is changing and apparently we are no longer welcome at The Tavern on Camac.

Been to this bar a couple of times when visiting Philly. Really enjoyed each visit. If you enjoy a piano bar, this one is really nice. The drinks are good, and when I was there, the piano was wonderful. Terrific piano player, who had a lot of music books for people to choose from if they wanted to exercise their pipes. The player was great, and had a terrific voice and style. A very good song stylist. Drinks are good, and the bartenders attentive and quick. There is a restaurant downstairs (reachable from separate entrance from the street) that was excellent! And if you're lucky enough to have John as your waiter, it's even nicer. I'd highly recommend the Lo Mein dish! Overall, a very fun place to spend an evening!

Writing this review while everyone is bored on the dance floor. Such trash DJ-ing. If you want to listen to butchered songs or songs no one knows, this would be the place for you. Drinks are well priced, but every time I come here, the music/DJ is absolutely trash. All my friends would rather listen to an auto-play Spotify list at home, than go here for dancing.

Honestly the vibe wasn’t even all that bad . What disturbed me the most was how the bartender by the name of Chuck continued to serve all white customer around me as I waited patiently for him to acknowledge me . It seemed race related but anyways . Thank God for Tommy! The bartender that was very impartial and did his job well. If it wasn’t for him I probably would’ve have left .

We liked the atmosphere and piano on the ground floor even though the layout is a bit cramped. Very hard to get a drink. The bartender was friendly enough, but they definitely needed more than one bartender on the 4th of July.
