This was, without question, one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a bar. I visited for the first time with three friends who are regulars and know the bartenders well. I was expecting a fun night, but instead, I was met with an infuriating and degrading experience. After ordering a drink and having my ID checked by the bartender, Robert—who commented "wow" when he saw it—I joined my friends on the back patio. About 30 minutes later, a man with brown hair and a black beard, who I believe was named Arthur, approached me aggressively, demanding to see my ID again. He claimed I looked more like 15 than someone of legal drinking age. I refused because I didn’t know who he was, and his confrontational approach was completely uncalled for. It turns out Arthur was an off-duty cook who decided to act like a bouncer because the bar had been caught in a sting operation the week before. Even after checking my ID, he continued to harass me, arrogantly sneering that I "don’t look 27." For the record, I’m 26, with my birthday still a few months away, so it was obvious he was trying to catch me in a lie. When I confirmed my birthday, he had the nerve to ask if I had it "memorized," as if I was trying to fake my age. To top it off, he had the audacity to say, "I know what a 27-year-old looks like because I’ve them before," which was beyond inappropriate and egotistical. Eventually, another bartender came out, used a hologram to verify my ID, and offered a half-hearted apology on behalf of this arrogant and unprofessional cook. But did I get any apology from Arthur, the person who humiliated and disrespected me in front of my friends? Absolutely not. Instead, this egotistical cook had the gall to say he will refuse to serve my friends in the future, despite them defending me throughout this entire nightmare. This experience was beyond humiliating and infuriating. I’ve never been treated so poorly at any establishment. I didn’t leave a tip and walked out immediately. I expected so much better from a place my friends raved about. Instead, I got harassment, grossly inappropriate comments, and zero accountability. I will never return to this bar, and I strongly urge others to avoid it if you value being treated with basic human decency.

Friday afternoon at Changes I had a great ribeye steak and a drink. This morning (Saturday) I realized I forgot to close out my tab. So this afternoon I went back to pay and get my card- or so I thought. The latina behind the bar hastily looked for my card said she couldn’t find it and suggested I come back when ‘that bartender’ was working again.. I expressed I need my card and that she was being cavalier about my card. she fired back ‘that I was the one that lost my card to get a new one’ I was stumped and just left. Here’s the thing folks I didn’t loose my card I gave it to the bartender to keep my tab open and when I got home today I had to cancel the card. Now I have to change all my accounts affiliated with my card because a dolt couldn’t be bothered to help a CUSTOMER. What a disappointment. Take2 you’re a confused bar owner and a sad liar! (it’s all n camera) I was there between 4-6pm on friday May 17th 2024 I ordered at bar and the young bar tender took my CARD. ask the cook I ate in back patio. the dolt latina is a referral to the disheveled unnecessarily rude male who was working yesterday afternoon. Watch out people !!! don’t leave your card with bartender- you might not get it back . Folks heres a pic of my ribeye steak and it’s time stamp !!!

I recently visited changes and had an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by jack with a warm, friendly atmosphere that immediately made me feel welcome. The décor is stylish and cozy, creating a perfect setting for a night out. The drink menu is impressive, and if you visit on a Tuesday they offer a wide range of very good priced beers. Jack was clearly skilled and passionate about his craft, creating beautifully presented and delicious drinks. I highly recommend trying his signature cocktail-it was a perfect blend of flavors. He was also ready to provide recommendations and ensure I had everything I needed. The service was prompt and professional, yet laid-back enough to keep the vibe relaxed. Additionally, the music selection was fantastic, enhancing the overall ambiance without overpowering conversation. Whether you're looking for a spot to unwind after work or a lively place to enjoy with friends, changes is an excellent choice. I'll definitely be returning soon!

I love everything about this place except the fish tanks! The staff and patrons are super sweet, the drinks are great, and they play fun music. But the fish really bum me out. Their tanks are super dirty and the fish do not look good. They have so much waste dangling down (several inches) likely due to constipation from the amount of algae they’re consuming in the tanks. I understand being busy and not always having time to clean the tanks, especially in a food/bev environment, but I feel like the fish should be rehomed if no one has the time to regularly clean the tanks.

Not a place for whack or insecure energy—take that to the Octopus Bar XD People are HELLA cool about pronouns here, as an lgbtq lad—just be yourself and don’t make a big “deelieo” or worry, I was worried too, but nobody gave a shit and were just like “oh cool—do you wanna go play pool dude?”. Went here for the first time just to check out the scene, just met the Bartender Robert, he was kind and chill. FINALLY MODEST DRINK PRICES, was a great time!

Hadn't been there for over 20 years. Returned to Seattle a year ago. Changes is just as good as it was years ago. Best local gay bar ever! Nobody is pushy and the crowd is fun. Very nice place and the bartenders are super. EDIT: Been in Seattle for 3 years now. Changes NEVER disappoints. Kind of like a gay "Cheers". Arthur and Floyd always make me feel welcome there. It's not a pick-up bar. It's a clean and friendly place that I enjoy going to during my off time.
