Great! A little bit dead after RuPauls drag race though

Went on a Friday night and was ok but lacks atmosphere. Much better bars in Pearl District, which have better music, friendlier staff and vibe… Was passing again several days later and thought we’d sit outside for a drink in the sunshine but the bar tender wouldn’t accept our UK licences (despite accepting the 1st time). So if from overseas don’t bother unless you want to take your passport.

Don't think my friend knew the significance of this place when he took me here. But all we were looking for were a couple more drinks, and this place didn't disappoint. Quick with the drinks, and we escaped without any bruises or scratches!

Best neighborhood gay bar in all of Portland! Love the bartenders here so much, they will see me walking down the street and will start making my drink before I'm ever even through the door. It's things like that that keep me coming back

I found this place by accident and enjoyed the slot machines that they have. However, I did cash out a ticket and realized that the bartender shorted me $10 from my winnings. By the time I realized this I decided to let it go. Now I know to always have them count it back in front of me because either it was a mistake or it was intentional. Just a warning for those who cash out tickets from the slot machines and this establishment.

It is telling and disheartening that what is supposed to be a safe friendly place for gay people was in fact the least welcoming and most jobsworth place we visited in the whole of Portland. The ID rules are taken to extreme levels that nowhere else did (a common issue from other reviews i see) and it felt like they actively did not want customers, even when we went out of our way to get the required documentation (passport as only had uk driving license despite being late 30s/early 40s). Nowhere else required this and even given this there was no hint of welcomingness at all. Do better or why bother.

What is going on here ? Crack-head just out the door screening and blocking us from getting in… Then a full of bad attitude bartender not accepting our IDs to purchase anything (I am 44, look 44, and my ID clearly show my date of birth despite the fact we are from Canada). The place is empty, sad, vibeless, and with this kind of service, will stay this way forever. Avoid at all cost.

**Follow-Up Incident June 2nd, 2024 Discriminatory BEHAVIOR from the manager who has white hair, white and Asian mixed American Vs Foreign immigrant** Disclaimer: I was completely sober and respectful throughout this incident. I returned to speak with the owner or manager regarding a previous incident. The manager, who claimed to be Korean, stated that the bartender couldn't be discriminatory because of their background. As an Eastern Asian myself, I found this reasoning flawed. After presenting my passport, the bartender's tone became very rude and aggressive, which felt discriminatory. The manager repeatedly interrupted me, calling me rude and confrontational, and refused to listen to my side of the story. His approach was frustrating and dismissive. It's important to recognize that discrimination can occur within any racial or ethnic group, and being of the same background does not preclude someone from acting in a discriminatory manner. The manager spent a considerable amount of time criticizing me and threatened me with legal action if I did not leave immediately. Eventually, he suggested a six-month ban with conditions for my return, which I found unreasonable. I have decided to find another bar where I will be treated with respect and dignity.
