I was in D.C for a work conference and came here to celebrate my birthday with friends who live in D.C. (its Ohio roots led me to check it out). We had a great time! Food was great, and everyone we met there was so nice - complete strangers enjoying themselves at the bar were friendly and excited to see new people. It’ll be a stop every time I’m in town, and I know my local friends were impressed and looking forward to returning.

Johnnys is a true neighborhood bar. The owners are incredibly friendly and they make an effort to say hello to each of the patrons who are hanging out at their spot. The food is delicious and the cocktail list is great - especially for a dive bar. I love watching sports there or sitting out in the patio with my dog (who gets greeted with a treat and water even if we’re just walking past the bar but don’t actually sit down for a drink). Definitely recommend checking it out!

We found johnnys last year while walking through our neighborhood and decided to check it out. we were pleasantly surprised seeing it was an Ohio state bar (being from Columbus) it’s like a little slice of home right in the district! Even better the food and drinks are great and the service and atmosphere are awesome! They always have fun seasonal cocktails and specials during the week. One of our favorites is their taco Tuesday, you don’t wanna miss!

Watched the MLS championships here, great beer selection, burger and starters were tasty, and it was a really fun, welcoming atmosphere - made some new friends too!

Johnny’s is one of my favorite neighborhood bars! The staff is always so lovely and helpful and the food is great. Whether meeting up with friends, celebrating someone’s birthday, or getting their Taco Bell Tuesday specials I’ve always had a great time at Johnny’s.

This is one of the places in DC that I take all my family and friend who are visiting me. And I think that says a lot about a place. I’ve been coming to this bar since they started, and it’s honestly one of my favorite spots. It has such a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like you’re part of the family as soon as you walk in. The people here are incredible—they’re genuinely friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. What makes this place even more special is that it’s a true small business, owned by some amazing people who’ve clearly worked hard to create something unique. You can feel the love they’ve poured into every detail, from the atmosphere to the food. I have seen them work hard since day one. Speaking of the food—it’s fantastic! Their special nights are equally thought of and it’s always a treat whether you're coming for drinks or a meal. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and check this place out.

This is an ideal place to relax, drink, and chat. It's also a small business with a lot of friendly regulars. It's also an Ohio bar. The food is solid, but the atmosphere is really the draw. The person who is serving you or working in the kitchen is highly likely to be the owner.

I hate giving places mediocre reviews, but for context I have been coming here for a year. The place has always been a good place, however in recent times it’s fell off a bit. They are usually severely understaffed which is fine during the week, but on the weekends when the place is packed I’ve seen them multiple times only have one cook and one bartender, no one to even take orders. Not only that but sometimes it is hard to get people’s attention, the workers all seem stressed out. They also say that they are closed on Mondays but then when I walk past the place it is open… I don’t know if it’s like a managerial thing, but it is more of like a sports bar so I figure the weekends they would want to have adequate staff to manage more people. Personally I hope they bounce back but to be honest I’m unsure. I personally like their food compared to the places next store, but for the past couple of months I’ve found myself taking friends to the other places just simply because I can’t get anyone’s attention. I also just think that you need to have a schedule and stick to the schedule, but it may just be me.
