Excellent BBQ option in Southeast GR/Caledonia area. Finally had a chance to visit BB today and really enjoyed it. Good atmosphere with an open kitchen. The smell the moment you enter just gets you ready to eat right away. We tried the brisket and pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and Mac n cheese. Both meats were very good and moist, and there's a set of sauces on each table of various types (KC, Carolina, hot, sweet). We really liked all the sauces, wish they sold them bottled! The baked beans are amazing, the Mac n cheese is average but we liked the non traditional cheese. The service was fine, average for this type of establishment. There is also a coffee and taco stand inside if you're into a different type of fare. We didn't try it, but we did see a few tacos come out and they looked good!

The food is mouth watering good. My 5 and 9 yo loved it said it was the best smoked meat they have had other than mine ha ha. We got the brisket burger corn bread casserole, ½lb brisket, and 1 lb of chicken. All of it is amazing the chicken is some of the juiciest out there and don't get me started on the cornbread casserole. Great prices and service with Halli was excellent. Everything was amazing! We will definitely go back!

Cute place. Food could use some attention. While the meat was okay, the sides were lacking. The slaw was just bagged cabbage. No dressing or spices on it at all. Was told that it has vinegar and oil on it but it was dry with no flavor. Our waitress said they get quite a few comments about the slaw not meeting expectations. The macaroni and cheese was okay. It reminded me of something you would buy premade from Gordon foods. Just not what I would expect from a bbq place. Nice selection of whiskey. Our server was good. Food was served quickly. They had live music which was enjoyable

We were meeting an out of town friend for dinner and decided to try this place since it was a convenient location for both parties. The atmosphere was great. Loved the layout and decor. The bar had plenty of patrons who appeared to be "usuals". It was a little slow when we arrived. Our waitress was nice but knew nothing about the food. When asked questions about what was on different items, she literally grabbed a menu to read it. We opted to get a variety of food to share and taste test. Overall, it was just ok. The brisket was good. The pulled pork was smokey but otherwise boring. They need a bigger variety of sauces. The sides were also lacking flavor. I would be willing to go meet friends here again for social time but wouldn't go back just for dinner.

Our first visit this afternoon to Butcher Block was a wonderful experience! We sat outside at a corner table in the shade. Neither of us noticed traffic noise from the road nearby (the radio is loud but not obnoxious). We were able to try all their new sides (dropping on the menu tomorrow!) and they were all delicious. The street corn had a little kick (I am a self confessed wimp where hot spices are concerned). The slaw is a crispy, light, fresh vinegar slaw. Baked beans had plenty of brisket bits included - almost a meal on their own! The corn bread casserole was very good- more like a cake consistency and not at all dry. The Garlic mashed potatoes were well seasoned with some nice bite-sized potato chunks left in the mix. The mac & cheese was typical for restaurant sides but still had good flavor, as well. Our two favorites were the mashed potatoes & beans (my husband) and the cornbread & slaw (me). We ordered some meat but were too full to eat more than a bite or two. Brisket and pulled pork which were also delicious. The service was exceptional and Addie (our server) was extremely good at her job! She was low pressure, answered all our questions, and so kind and pleasant! We will be praying for you as you head out to your next adventure at GCU, Addie!

A very nice restaurant and good vibe, this is my second time being here. Wasn't a fan of the "street corn", just a different style us all. The pulled pork and brisket were very good. Side salad was decent but hated the fact they didn't make the ranch dressing. Amazing service with gratitude attitudes

My wife and I have wanted to try this place since they opened about a month ago and see what the excitement was about. While we were there you could tell the hype had calmed down so traffic was pretty low. The atmosphere is awesome! You get an elegant vibe mixed with a garage/repair shop vibe. A little different than we anticipated. The cafeteria style food ordering was different, but I didn’t mind. Biggest downfall with this style of restaurant was the food was lukewarm. With the vibe you get from the interior and exterior I was excited and expecting a hot meal. The flavors of the meal were really good, but just lukewarm. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and then went and grabbed food. I was disappointed with the meat portion sizes for the price. I ordered the quarter chicken and I received a chicken leg with maybe a 1/4 chicken breast. Not much meat at all. My wife ordered the brisket sandwich and got twice the meat, but it was twice the price. The sides, $5 each, were good portion sizes. We ordered the street corn, tater tots, cornbread casserole, and Mac N Cheese, and ordered a Key Lime Pie for desert. The Mac was the warmest food we had all night. The Mac and cornbread casserole flavors were great. The brisket was on point flavor wise! The key lime pie wasn’t too bad, loved the real whip cream on top. Crust was pretty thin and the pie was a little overly sweet and couple have used more lime flavor. Overall it was a good experience. I didn’t have anything that wowed me and made me feel like I need to go back. We may come back in a few months when they get into a groove after being open awhile. Try it and decide yourself. Just note, if you don’t mind lukewarm food then you have no worries.

I'm lucky to live close to this place, great addition to a small town! I love the atmosphere, staff, and the food is really great. I'm a big chicken fan and this place has the best chicken sandwich ever! Just fyi that this is Austin style BBQ and not the super spicy kind. Delicious and great music! This is a great date spot.
