Staff give terrible recommendations for drinks and don’t seem to a good sense of customer service. I asked for a recommendation on a sweet drink but was suggested the most sour/bitter cocktail I’ve ever had in my life. Taste can be subjective but no, this had zero elements of sweet at all. I apologized to the bartender as I never want to be “that person” but asked the bartender for a different drink - finally, we get sweet. Yet the first drink wasn’t taken off the bill. I never drank the first cocktail. I definitely won’t be coming back to this bar.

Proper whiskey bar with classy, yet down-to-earth vibes. Very friendly service willing to cater to those that don't know whiskey well. Prices are appropriate for the value received. Just get here now and support a great local business.

Fantastic! Kudos to Evanston for FINALLY having a proper cocktail bar in the center of the city (and thank you to the owner(s) for their endeavor). The whiskey cocktail menu is flawless (House Old Fashioned, Manhattan, The Brown Derby) and the prices are truly excellent! The off-menu gin gimlet was one of the best we’ve had in the region. The Oskar team is attentive and efficient which is so rare to find, yet extremely valued. We can’t wait to come back!

Inventive cocktails, cozy atmosphere, knowledgeable staff. I’m not a cocktail expert, so I appreciate the time that they’ll give to explain the ingredients and flavors of a drink. We were also impressed by the amount of housemade ingredients that they used which is surely a sign that they care. The seating is a little tight, but the patrons were all kind and had no problem accommodating folks moving around.

An exceptional, intentional, and beautifully crafted cocktail bar with a seasonal menu worth a journey to enjoy and appreciate. Oskar might be particularly meaningful to anyone who loves whiskey-based cocktails, but is welcoming to all. Eric, the lead bartender, is a true master of the craft. Cannot wait to return!

Visited this hidden gem and it was a wonderful experience. The cocktails are really well balanced and the bartenders are a delight, friendly and full of great whiskey insights. Highly recommend!
