High Waters Bar And Grill

Like some of the other reviews here. This was our least favorite experience eating out while we were on vacation. First, we had to wait even though there were open tables. After waiting we were seated and waited even longer. While we were waiting again, we decided to take some family photos and one of the waitresses was kind enough to offer to take one of all of us. The waitress we actually got unfortunately was not nice at all. We ordered our food and waited more... when our food finally came, mine was cold. I only ordered a bowl of soup. I told her she ran away with it and brought it back, again not pleasantly. No apology, nothing.

We stopped by for a drink after strolling on the beach. Fran was very friendly and provided us with a menu while we were visiting. Wasn't planning on eating until the Lobster Bisque caught my eye. Ordered it to go since I had dinner already started. It was the perfect addition to my meal. Love their Croutons!!!

We went early, so there was no wait. Food was good, but spicy (which I like but my wife didn't). Menu was limited. They had a fair number of selections, but I guess I was not in their target audience (sports bar food). Service was ok, but slow ... maybe the kitchens fault ... I don't know. I am reviewing it it as a restaurant, but it's really a sports bar, I think. So if you're looking for sports bar food, the food is maybe pretty good. Prices were high $20+ for most meals, but what restaurant isn't these days. All in all, for our taste, we'll be going elsewhere in the future.

Good food and service. Fish wrap and fried pickles were amazing! Cocktails could've had less ice and more booze. I got the fried flounder and it was delicious but heavy on the grease. They were out of the ice cream to accompany our chocolate lava cake, waitress said she would discount it as a result. She didn't and I forgot to check until after we were home.

Was not impressed with High Waters this evening. Ordered the Apricot Salad to find only 5 apricots bites on it. Ordered Sirloin Steak as well- was disappointed as it was paper thin and requested a rare cook. Received well done. Corn on the cob was old and sponge like as it seems it has been sitting in hot water for far too long. Waitress forgot the side salad and when we went back to get it she had attitude and said it was not on our order which I double check and it was. Got the salad back to the Airbnb to find a handful of lettuce small wedge of tomato uncut and a cucumber that wasn’t sliced and stuck together. Save yourself the money and don’t bother. A very disappointing meal for our first night in Surf City.

Great meal. Maddie was wonderful. Casual atmosphere. Good music. We will be back.

Honestly, the first thing we do when looking for new restaurants is review the google online reviews. We looked at the reviews and they were mostly good with a few random one star reviews. Normally, we might look for another place but not so this time because of the owner responses to the poor reviews. We appreciated how thoroughly the owner dissected erroneous claims about his business and his blunt approach. Based on this, we knew we had to try it! The food was amazing! We had the fish and chips and the mixed shrimp platter. The fish was breaded to perfection, flakey, and fresh. The shrimp was perfectly cooked as well. The Brussels sprouts were season welled with a delightful amount of kick that was not overbearing. The coleslaw was fresh and light. Anna, our server, was extremely attentive and made the experience even better. Overall, High Waters has great food, great atmosphere, great service and did we mention there is a television in the men’s room? If you’re in Surf City, check this place out.

The staff was hospitable and friendly! The best crab legs with the Seafood Tower, and the sirloin was cooked to order. We’ll be back!!
