The Gold Bar and Western Bar

Checking The Gold Bar off of our experience list. We actually visited the corner nook of the bar that's designated for The Salt Outpost restaurant. The hamburgers were good, but not exceptional. Salad with a burger on top was clearly the healthiest menu choice. The beef fat fried French fries that weren't burnt to a crisp were tasty - but more were burnt than not. This is not a place for conversation, but the rowdy crowd was having a good time playing pool and watching sports together.

My favorite bar in Helena. Love the local food from Old Salt Outpost, great (and affordable) drinks (both alcoholic and n/a), and fantastic service from all the bartenders.

This was a quirky bar for me. You sit at a very cool old school wrap around bar and feel an awesome cowboy vibe, but behind you is the “old salt” burger kiosk slinging fast food. On the other side, behind the bar, is a room with casino a lot machines. One the other side is a pool table. At the bar, a few locals were drinking and swearing up a storm even though there was a table with a family sitting right behind them eating their burger from the Old Salt! It just was a bit awkward for me. I did like my beer and the bartender was nice. No wine for you though if you want that, or at least none my wife would drink. VictorB

Had THE BEST time at the Gold Bar! It's a Helena icon for sure! Between the Gold Bar and Western Bar there are multiple bars, multiple rooms, great music, even better drinks, and fantastic bartenders! The crowd is eclectic, the seating is ample and they have great games like darts and pool. Love this place!

Tell me if I’m crazy. I ordered a salad and a cheese burger plan with only cheese. I paid and they gave me a number. They gave me my order and when I checked it. I found the burger had everything on it. I took it back up to the counter and nicely told them it was wrong. No big deal right? The lady asked for a receipt as I’m holding the burger she just gave me.. then she starts telling me that her ppl don’t make mistakes like this and I must’ve made a mistake. So after 5 mins or so of her telling me how I’m supposed to have the person taking my order repeat the order back to me. The place was packed and I have this lady talking down to me because they got the order wrong… then she tells me they are going to fix it and made it a big deal to have me say exactly what I wanted over and over again. 15 mins later she come by and tells me I’m 6th in line.. the best part is when I finally did it… they put the orange sauce on it anyways. After all that belittling and telling me how they know what there doing and they make no mistakes. I’m whipping the sauce off my sons burger I have already spent about 45-60 mins in there I wasn’t going back to wait even longer

Great burgers inside at the Old Salt and cold beer at the bar. What else do you need.

Jenn, Sarah, Gigi, Erik, Tony, Nate, Michael and any of the other bartenders I didn’t mention by name are some of the best bartenders in town! I’m always treated with respect and great service whether I just wanna watch football/baseball, or bring a group of friends for some pool and darts! OldSalt has amazing food, The Western is a great change of pace and vibe when wanted/needed. I can get a beer anywhere but I will keep going back for the people that work there. Thanks guys!

I asked for a hurricane shot after a long day at work. Sarah then proceeded to pour one up, throw a cup of water at my face and slap me. Haven’t been so thrilled in a while 10/10 will be coming back
