The Mercury Cafe and Teahouse

Stumbled upon this place when driving from CT to FL. It truly did not disappoint. The Lala land latte was sooo good along with the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It’s overall just a perfect little stop! We now always stop in whenever we make that drive!

I’ve been here twice and without doubt I will visit again whenever I go to New Castle. Highly recommend the Mac cheese. The coffee and drinks were all great.

What a cute cafe. They have it all! From artisan tea to carefully crafted cocktails to being in a historic building to immaculate vibes. Plus it’s all vegetarian and everything can easily be made vegan. My only critique is the Merc Melt could use a little more sauce/flavor but everything was excellent! I have nothing but good things to say. It was all so tasty and staff was kind and helpful. Highly recommend!

The best vegan food in New Castle County. Amazing meat-free, healthy options at reasonable prices. Plus this place is so cute! Great atmosphere. Set up in a historic house - the staff can tell you about the history. I bring many non-vegetarians here and they all love it. Don't miss the fantastic coffee, tea, or cocktails. Great spot for a weekend brunch or evening dinner. Date night or family night.

What a treat to find this vegetarian gem! The cozy colonial building provides multiple levels and rooms of ambience. Ordering food is at the bar. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only con we experienced was trying to decide from the MANY delicious sounding options the pulled oat pork sandwich was a highlight and I highly recommend. The salads were a right balance of greens, toppings, and dressing (not drowning like mostly places create). The hummus and tzatziki plate was great for a kid, lots of options. The impossible burger had a great seasoning to it with a sweet bun. The Dutch Hot Toddy is perfect on a cold and rainy day. All in all, the best meal on the trip so far and I recommend you give it a try, vegetarian or not.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here. The outside garden patio was perfect for a romantic meal. I loved the Chardonnay and their homemade tomato soup is a must -- it is the most delicious tomato soup ever! And their salads with house made dressing is always fabulous. Great food, drinks, atmosphere and add in the always friendly service, dining at Mercury Cafe is the best experience.

A new favorite spot for lunch! Thrilled to discover this gem in downtown New Castle. I went with a friend visiting from out of state, and we loved the vibe of the place. The food is vegetarian/vegan but honestly I would have never guessed—my gyro was so tasty! They also offer an excellent beverage list and I’ll be sure to try the coffee next time.

My son took me to this spot yesterday and I was so impressed. I’m not a big coffee drinker but the ice coffee my son recommended was nice. I am a big sweet eater and the apple muffin was very good not too sweet like my usual but still very good and crunchy. The Mercury is Small but clean and airy. Service on point and the atmosphere delightful. Had to share with my manager who lives in the neighborhood she must check it out. Very nice place. Love the entrance and the out area so surprised of the size and set up excellent… I will be taking my wife here for a lunch and coffee date. Doing so will indeed get me some honey you care points lol.. Check it out you will love it.
