Spirit Massage & Bodywork

This review is an update to my previous one-star review. I had some major issues rescheduling my massage due to technical difficulties with Spirit's system, and I had an even worse experience with the business's customer service rep. However, by eventually getting ahold of Melvin, I was able to reschedule my appointment and have him fix the scheduling system error. In terms of the actual massage, Melvin did a wonderful job! He was polite, attentive, and most of all extremely knowledgeable about human musculature. He was a master at identifying tight muscles and releasing them. If you prefer to talk during massages, Melvin is knowledgeable about a host of other topics as well! Next time I go for a massage, I will definitely return to Spirit Massage!

I had an appointment with Spirit Massage & Bodywork, which I booked nearly two months in advance due to their limited availability. However, upon arriving, I found the business closed during their posted hours. Despite my efforts to contact them, they didn’t respond. Unfortunately, their customer service was lacking, leaving me uncertain about their massage therapy skills. It’s frustrating when businesses fail and appointments don’t go as planned!

Today, I visited Spirit Massage & Bodywork for a deep-tissue body massage, and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a soothing atmosphere – the cleanliness and calming music set the perfect tone. My massage therapist, Melvin, was kind and charismatic. He genuinely cares about his clients. He listened to my specific needs and used various techniques to address my tension and knots. I left the session feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I highly recommend this place.

My massage therapist retired so I'm looking to find a replacement. Spirit Massage is not far off of I-395, so this would be great for someone in Springfield, Alex., Fairfax. I'm in Arlington so it's a little bit far. But the massage therapist, Melvin, was great. He really knows his stuff, is a great communicator, and highly professional. He tried several techniques, and used a few tools, which was new to me. I was impressed and despite the distance am likely to return on an occasional basis. I wasn't sure I'd be comfortable with a male therapist, but he totally put me at ease and it was fine. I should add I'm recovering from a serious leg injury and surgery, and he did a fantastic job of identifying the tightest muscles and working the knots out.

Melvin is the best in the entire world, bar none!!! I’ve had massages all over the area, all over VA, all over the country, all over the world and I have NEVER had such an amazing massage in all of my 56 years…and I’ve had hundreds!!! He is 100 stars out of 5!

Really good massage place. They first patiently try to understand the issue if you have any and what you are looking to get out of the massage. Then accordingly they focus on that and the outcome is really good. Definitely highly recommended!!

Went to get a 90 min. massage from Melvin and was very satisfied! I felt so relaxed afterwards and will definitely book again. Melvin is a fantastic therapist, his friendliness can immediately put anyone at ease. 5/5 highly recommend!
