A nice neighborhood bar with a variety of craft beer selections. I've been told that the owner is one of the original Sigma Sound kids. A group of young people who camped out side Sigma Sound Studios when David Bowie recorded Young Americans here in Philly way back in 1974. It was a real friendly place my friend introduced me to some of her friends and we had a wonderful time talking and listening to Bowie songs.

Definitely a dive bar and the drinks are descent. My three star cones from them not taking credit cards in 2018. That is right this is a cash bar!!! Found that out the hard way in a group bar hopping. Anyways they did have some interesting shots and the guy behind the bar was friendly though creepy. Anyways your looking to get away from the trendy crowd and hideaway then you've found it here!!!

Good prices on beer and sandwiches. You can get pitchers at the tables, as well as make your own beer flights. The bathrooms are really narrow and awkward. The jukebox is great though. Cash only - there is an atm. This is a good dive - pretty much the only one around the neighborhood. There is outdoor seating in the summer.

I am a fan of the "dive" type bar. Let's get that said now. I like a place where the folks know each other, the space is clean but with no frills or crazy trendy updates, and the bartenders aren't carving ice cubes for each drink. This is a shining example of the genre. I have been to Doobies several times (though I live out of state) and each time, busy or not, I get a warm welcome from a bartender and a drink right away. The locals are very laid back and comfortable in the space and that calm comfort is infectious. I immediately felt at ease, while still being well aware that I was not a local or a favorite (as it should be!!!). The events (like trivia) are lively and welcoming (nearly won, and found regulars were rooting for the upset). The food takes some time but not any more than you'd think, and what I had tasted exactly as i expected. As far as prices, you're in Philly. Nuff said! but they beat several bars in walking distance on beer and that is all I care about. I figure bar food is supposed to taste good and there for you when you stop caring about where you can get it 75 cents cheaper. In short, go, drink, and soak in the experience. It has won awards and you'll see why!

Great local joint with a small but excellent beer list, interesting patrons, only one television (a GOOD thing), friendly barkeep, and food that fills the need for food at a bar. You can come here and read a book, talk to someone new, or just mind your own business and beer.
