Our party enjoyed the zombie wings and fried mushrooms as a start. The Clyde tenderloin was tender and tasty, and the burger flavorful. Typical midwest bar feel and good for a Monday night. Great service. Stick with a national beer though.

Decided to try First Ward House Bar based on a recommendation from a local. The bar has a lot of history and it shows. Our hostess, Bethanie, was wonderful. She is very personable. Pricing is reasonable compared to what we usually spend on food in Denver. We started with the Vampire Baby garlic cheese curds. They were delicious. We ordered four different lunch items today. Nachos w/brisket, a chicken wrap, wings and a SJFD burger. The brisket was fantastic but that’s where the goodness stopped. The chips were crisp, but flavorless. The other condiments fresh, but the queso and salsa were bland. The wings were incredibly over cooked and tough. The party eating them, said that they were almost un-chewable. The chicken wrap was fresh, but forgettable. There was very little that made it stand out. I was very excited about the burger when I ordered it. It had been highly recommended. While it looked good on the menu, the actual burger was very mediocre. Unfortunately they did not ask how I would like the burger prepared so it was incredibly overdone. The sauce was OK but nothing special to write home about. They do offer however, a zombie sauce that I tried and it was fantastic. The coleslaw was very good, very nice and creamy with a slight sweetness. I was also excited to try their homemade french fries. They too were over done, and the oil did not taste fresh so the fries came out a little bit over cooked and soggy at the same time, which I didn’t think was possible. Overall it was okay “for pub food” but we would not come back for the food alone.

We've eaten here a couple of times, The burgers are great. This time, I had the tenderloin, and it was very good. The place has a cool history. It's worth a google search while you are there. The staff and service was awesome. Though I've never been there for it, they have live music on the weekends. Great little hole in the wall place...

I suppose I picked the wrong event for me. Black light night. There were too many people (which was good for business) and I didn't see any security or off duty police inside or out. Positives the vibes were good and smoking contained to the outsider patio.. In fairness I didn't see the people I thought would be there so I spent about 15 minutes and left. Will definitely try another night as it seems like a good local place to visit.

What can I say! This is by far the best tenderloin sandwich I've ever had! Toasted Kaiser bun, breaded & fried tenderloin, with lettuce, sliced onions, tomato, & pickles on the side. My tenderloin was juicy.. not dry! Your choice of chips, french fries, or coleslaw as a side. I chose fries. They were fairly good. A tad bit too greasy for me. Service was awesome & my food was on point! Can't wait to try something else on the menu!

I wish the servers wouldn't be that sensitive. One put personal feelings over business. She got mad because I called her attention by tapping the table with a beer can. People this sensitive should not be serving in an environment where people are drinking.

Such a great first experience. Thank you so much for the great food at wonderful prices, the kindness of our server, and for being insanely dog friendly. Piper, our five month old shepherd Rottweiler puppy, had the best time. They even made her her own burger. Thank you guys so much! Will be back!!!

We love First Ward! We always have good service and good food. My older kids enjoy playing pool or Cornhole while we wait on food, and our youngest likes the classic pinball machine. Very chill, very laid back, a great stop at the end of a long day.
