George Country Sports Bar is a nice little hang out place in the Gayborhood. I came here during the holidays. I ordered a drink but it was not filled to the rim. But I think I like it here.

Short Story: White man assaults my partner out of blue inside the bar - assailant and his group are kicked out. A minute later my group is kicked out for having been assaulted and forced onto the street where the assailants were. Long Story: My partner, two friends, and I entered the bar and felt relatively welcome off the bat. Got our drinks and proceeded to one of the pillars toward the entrance and sat at bar stools in a completely unoccupied section. While minding our own business, an amped up older white man approaches my partner in an aggressive way and tells him that he has to move because he had taken his seat. When my partner said that he would not be moving because this entire section was empty, the man proceeded to shove my partner and force his way into the space that we just settled in. He then looked at all of us and said “what are you gonna do about it, huh?” This man clearly was on something other than alcohol and his friend group at the next table was silent while he assaulted us. I then looked at his two friends and asked if they were okay with their friend assaulting us out of the blue and the friends looked astonished that I was holding them accountable for their friend. Amidst the action of this man yelling at us and our group standing up for ourselves, a bar keep approached us and asked what happened. I told him this man just assaulted my partner and the man claimed we stole his seat. The bar keep recognized the situation and decided to kick out the group of men. They gave us the middle finger and continued to sneer at us while they closed their tab. About a minute later we were told we also needed to leave as it’s policy for both parties of a conflict to be kicked out. I stated we just purchased these drinks and were then immediately assaulted so we’d need a refund. Amidst this new conflict with the bar keep, the original men were being escorted out and put their fists up at us as they exited. So I stated to the bar keep “you realize that you’re kicking us out alongside men who already assaulted us and then put their fists up at us as they walked out? Is this a coordinated effort to continue an attack on us?” And they said they did not care and that we needed to leave without a refund. We left and rushed away in an attempt to not be jumped by the original men who assaulted my partner. Wild experience and no person of color should frequent this establishment.

Great watering hole. Probably one of the better Thursday Steak Nights in the area. Attentive and generous bartenders and make a great drink. It’s small and cozy but worth a stop for drinks and to watch the game with the community.

It was a very nice experience. I think this bar is the best one in that area other than the Eagle but it's been forever since I've been. I had a great time

George is exactly what you want and expect out of a local, low-key, gay, country-esque, hole in the wall dive bar. Staff is great - friendly and attentive, but mess with them and they’ll have you out on the curb in a second. Seasoned professionals. Beers, shots, the usual. But go ahead and inject some fun into your night with a syringe full of Jell-O shots. There’s pool, darts, and the best and worst of Houston’s gay scene… it has everything but a dj named stefon who looks suspiciously like that club queer from weekend update

Unsafe environment! I had a stalker harassing me and I could not get staff to help! I called the police, who showed Up, wrote report of the stalking incident and when I walked back in, to close my tab I was asked to never go back !
