This is one of my favorite bars. The bartenders are awesome and friendly and the locals that go are diverse and fun. Good drink special and great company. Pool tables, outdoor table & chairs, cornhole, and great juke box.

I use to come here quite a bit, but last year or so it seems to have changed. I think the only Irish part of the bar is the name. They have booths but there’s no use trying to sit and talk with friends over drinks because the music is louder than when you’re at a club. I have to go outside to have any type of conversation. The bar seems to be having an identity crisis. Are you a pool bar, Irish bar, or a club. Place is too small to be all of that

Plenty of great places around 39th, but unfortunately this place missed the mark big time. When my friend asked for a draft beer, the bartender stated she wasn't good at pouring pints and said she didn't want to. Typical and predictable dive bar atmosphere - nothing really stood out besides the poor customer service. Went back the next night to pick up my friends before closing time (I was designated driver), and the staff showed their true colors. I've been to countless bars and have never been verbally abused to leave *upon entry*. There's a way to punctually and effectively deal with the public if you're providing a service - it doesn't involve insulting and intimidating paid customers. It's clear that management hasn't trained their staff enough to not yell, swear, and literally flex their muscles at patrons. Bad look. Disappointed about my experience at this bar - after visiting countless great bars with fantastic staff in the KC area I'll be sure to spread the word about shed Gilhouly's is NOT one of those places.

The hype of this place just didn't live up to my expectations. The service was good from one bartender but not the other. Felt like we inconvenienced him more than anything. One of my friends knocked over some bar stuff and he just yelled as if we kicked him grandmother awake with dirty boots before church. I'll give it another try though...just won't sit at the bar.

Pretty dope little dive. Got a couple of pool tables, some friendly regulars, chill bartenders and it's a comfortable space.

Please fix your hours. Our group came at 1:30 on a Monday. Google said you are open but you are not.

The bartenders were fantastic! The Irish whiskey selection was just right for my taste and budget. I liked the vibe. Had a couple pool tables and several booths. Wasn’t particularly loud, so it was good for conversation. My only beef — and it’s a big one — is the smell. There was a pungent urine odor throughout the bar that I just couldn’t shake. I’m sure it was from the men’s restroom, because when I went to use it, the odor was strongest in there. I’ll come visit again, because of the staff and the drinks and to play a couple games of pool. But if that smell is still there, I’ll have to find other digs. Fingers crossed that it was an anomaly! Cheers
