I went here for the matinee. A+. It felt like walking into a 1970s time machine with great music, dancing, and vibes. Highly recommend for an unpretentious early night… complete with a WATERBED! Docked one star for the pizza. We basically ate cardboard, but we had a great time doing so.

Came here for a matinee event on a Saturday and had a super fun time. The space isn't large so I imagine some nights it could get pretty packed, but it wasn't so crowded while I was there that I couldn't comfortably dance around. The ambiance is great. It is extremely dimly lit inside. The DJ was awesome. The music is very loud so I would caution anyone who might have sensitive ears. I would 100% come again.

Really cute place, expensive drinks but amazing atmosphere. There are drag shows on Wednesday and it was very very fun. Extremely fun dj with lots of 70s/80s music. Lots of places to sit and a water bed! Free entry

Joyface was fun! The DJ was on point having played music from the 70s to now with a good mix of everything. The only things I had issues with are there needs to be more lighting for the stairs to the balcony, the wait list system has to be improved and the pizza ran out quick.

I was told to wait in line by the bouncer and waited 30 minutes (watching dozens of people skip the line) for the same bouncer to loudly say "get outta here with that fit, there's a dress code, look at my outfit" when I made it to the front. Asked me to wait in line just to mess with me. I don't know why he couldn't tell me before. There are bars further down the block that are pretty good.

I was attacked by a man at this bar tonight. The manager was ultimately very helpful and watched the incident back on their security cameras, and threw the guy out— but he was friends with one of the bouncers, which is why they initially didn’t protect me or any of the other people who had been agressed. Ladies beware: this is not a safe place to party so long as the tall bouncer with dreads is out front. Take your business elsewhere. Thank god I’m tall and strong or this guy would’ve killed me.

As an interior designer based in New York, I've always looked at spaces with a different perspective. In fact, this different way of viewing spaces begins even before I enter them. In a city like New York with thousands of venues, I recently visited a place that I might have frequented for years, but where I could never fully focus on the atmosphere due to a lack of professionalism. It was a venue that felt completely amateurish, where egos were left at the door. When I arrived at the venue, it was still early, and there were about 10-15 people inside. However, as more people arrived, I noticed that some were allowed to enter without waiting in line, which I consider disrespectful to others. Before visiting any venue, I always check if they have their own set of rules. When I asked about reservations, they said it wasn't necessary, but then told me I needed to make a reservation at the door, which is ridiculous. Out of the nearly thousand events, restaurants, and bars I've been to, I can say this was the worst. Someone approached me in line and said that you could enter through the "talk and skip" method, and they did just that. The bouncer's ego, which overshadowed the venue itself, along with poor management, could only be found in a place like Ave C. My entire experience at this venue can be summed up as just about the line

THE most fun place to go out in NYC! Period. End of discussion. The music and overall aesthetic/vibe of Joyface brings so much light to my life. I am forever grateful to have such an incredible place to have weekly therapy dance sessions. I cannot speak higher about Jen and the people she has on her team. Special shout-out to Z, Daniel, and Ben!! Everyone is so welcoming, kind, and SO MUCH FUN to be around. Come here if you’re cool and want to BOOGIE
