Montavilla Saloon

A great selection of booze. Some great nerdy/cool clientele and bartenders. Not much for food, but there's about a million bomb spots around which you can bring in. Honestly, the best thing about this bar is that there are no gambling machines, and no TouchTunes/AVI jukebox. The bartenders play rad music, and there's no constant 'Rock Lobster" or "Walk Like an Egyptian" playing in the background.

I’m a midwesterner, comfortables with a little grit. Beers and house cocktails are generously poured - and at early ought/late 90’s prices.

The people that come here are extremely homophobic. Today, my brother went down to play a few games of pool and one of the regulars decided to pick a fight because he's gay. Four of his buddies joined in and the bartender backed them up. They threw a glass bottle at his head! The only reason he got out without going to the hospital was because he carries pepper spray. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE IN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY!

I've been coming to this bar since 2016 it's a wonderful little hot spot, low keyed and some of the best mixologist around, nice pool table, and pinball. They also have special events, great happy hour too! The best little secret!!! Get down and funkdafied.

Just discovered this bar, so pretty late to the game. But better late than never. Rad bar with awesome bartender.

I've only been in this place a few times, but had a good experience there. But know that despite having a sign that says "Montavilla Social Club", this is not an actual social club, but rather, a pub. I haven't had their food, so I can't report on that, but this is a good place to relax. They don't have a huge selection of beers, but what they do have is good. The lighting is intentionally dim - a bit on the dark side - which allows your eyes to relax, and in general, makes for an extremely relaxing atmosphere. Staff are friendly, laid back, and very helpful. It's by no means a redneck bar, so if you don't like redneck bars, you won't find any bigoted rednecks in here. All in all, it's a great little pub. I look forward to trying their food next time.

Been coming here throughout the name changes since 2003. Every incarnation is different but this one is the best. And I know these are all different owners but love you guys. Keep it up.

Now that the old Glisan Street Tavern aka Montavilla Social Club, and now the Montavilla Saloon is under new ownership since my last review I figured ought to update things. The space is spruced up a bit, but the layout is much the same as it's Social Club Days. Food offerings are still a bit limited, but serviceable. Beers have changed a bit, but they still offer a wide variety from Gamma to local IPAs. Service is just as friendly as in the past. Still a great neighborhood joint to pop in for a beer or a cocktail.
