Very little to recommend of this place -- hot, no air circulation, no iced tea available when I went (even though they had tea ... and ice), and a person behind the counter who seemed upset at the world. The best part of this outdated shop is the book nook outside. Go across the street to CUP or Art Shack instead.

Gorgeous coffee shop, with super cool solidarity initiatives like their community fridge and lending library. However, woefully lacking in customer service and warmth. One of the people working there is grumpy and bad at customer service. Having been a barista too, I know it's not that hard to be courteous to nice customers. I wanted hot tea with a cup of ice on the side since she wouldn't make me an iced tea (although no one was behind us in line). I was told after getting my $4 tea that I would be charged for the ice (that I had already asked for) if I wanted it. The person seemed cold and tense, whereas my request wasn't outlandish and my husband and I were polite when ordering. Not being accommodated is one thing, but frosty interactions just make me feel weird. What's so hard about hospitality and friendliness? Go to Cup down the street instead!

Ordered a dirty chai, what I got was some very sweet water. I appreciate that you looked at me and decided based on my appearance I am a hummingbird so you made the decision to give me essentially commercial hummingbird feed but this was $9. When is the last time you saw a hummingbird handling cash- let alone forking over $9? they don’t have to pay for anything. I’m still flattered though

Currently in the neighbourhood for a couple of weeks. Flat white is over 5$ which is an insane price when compared to the UK where the quality is better. I find the consistency of how good the coffee is depends on who makes it. I would expect it to be perfect for the price. 4/5

Will never go again. The person working today, whether staff or owner, was extremely unfriendly and rude. They failed to inform us of the no laptop policy on weekends before we made our purchase, despite us indicating that we planned to stay for a while. It was only after receiving our coffee and opening our laptops that they informed us of this policy. When I mentioned they should have informed us beforehand, since this isn't a common assumption for most people, they responded in a confrontational manner, asserting their right to run their business as they see fit. I was particularly taken aback when they mentioned, "I am from New York and 'we' don’t talk like this in NYC." during our exchange. I did not understand why being from NYC should be referenced in an exchange like that. As a Middle Eastern woman who has lived in NYC for many years (though not born and raised here, as my accent might reveal), I found this behavior contradictory to the community-oriented image this place purports to uphold. In my ten years in Brooklyn, I have never encountered such hostility.

Coffee is great, vibes good, wifi MID. It never works at all. AT ALL. Sucks to spend so much on coffee to get work done and not be able to get work done. CONSISTENTLY BAD WIFI.
