Poor People's Pub

Spent the day on Block Island and decided to grab dinner here. Very casual atmosphere - typical island vibe. Was greeted and seated very promptly. Our server was extremely pleasant, friendly, and took very good care of us. Cocktails (raspberry mojito and a Jameson iced coffee) were tasty, but not overly strong. We both had French onion soup to start. The soup was good - loaded with onions and with nicely melted cheese on top. The Local Burger was very tasty. While it was a bit greasy, I appreciated the fact that the burger was hand formed. The bun had a hard time staying together given the grease content. Overall though, this was a well flavored burger. We finished with a cast iron skillet chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream.

Always wanted to come here so I stopped in for a quick bite. It was super chill inside as expected and the bartender was very nice. The crispy fish sticks were honestly perfect with just the right amount of salt and a great tartar sauce. Can’t go wrong paired with a beer

We spent the first lunch of our honeymoon on Block Island and as big fans of BBQ naturally gravitated towards Poor People’s Pub. We were greeted and seated extremely quickly and graciously. The menu was very creative. I opted for the sausage sub with sausage made from brisket burnt ends and jalapeños, while my wife had a steak frites with truffle fries sandwich. Both were so fantastic we ended up splitting them so each could try the others! If you’re lookin gf or BBQ or just a really chill spot to get some comfort food on Block Island, look no further than PPP

Expensive for a poor people’s pub. And the food wasn’t nearly as good as the other reviews say. We didn’t even really finish it. It wasn’t BAD, just average. Definitely a fun atmosphere though! Have a beer and watch the game vibe for sure, which i like. The waitress wasn’t all that tentative either. Most likely wouldn’t go back from the experience i had but could’ve just been an off night for the chef. Doesn’t change the price on those $17 fish tacos.

My family and I ended up at this restaurant after we showed up at Kimberly's and realized they weren't open for lunch. I'm happy that they had outdoor seating, because we had our dog with us. The food was served pretty quickly and it wasn't expensive. I ordered the lobster roll, which was pretty good, especially because I don't enjoy mayonnaise. Besides the other two photos of food that I attached, which were the Local burger and fish tacos, we also got a caesar salad. It was normal. My parents complained that the burger and tacos were leaking too much juice, and three quarters of my plate was just potato chips, so that's why it's a solid 4 stars. I'm also a little curious about whether everyone got chips, or if some people got fries as the default side. Also, there was a nice bird :))

The food is always amazing, as are all the staff & owners!! I was there for Oktoberfest and it was awesome!!

Warm welcoming atmosphere. Sam the bartender was very pleasant , friendly and engaging.Makes great drinks. The pizza is fantastic .Plenty of toppings and great taste Perfectly crisp. The stuffy though was a very dense breading with little to no flavor.The lobster chowder was good.Plenty of lobster but I missed the corn. The food came out perfectly hot The hardest part is parking

We were in the island 4 days and ended up eating here 3 times. We were very impressed by the food quantity, quality, and quickness. The lobster roll had a generous amount of delicious fresh lobster. The Mac and cheese was well made and came in a small cast iron pan. One of the servers said people don’t order the spinach artichoke dip enough and they are missing out… and she was right. Creamiest cheesiest dip served in a bread bowl. Fries have a nice salt on them. Our final time there one of us ordered the veggie burger for the first time-it was a strange taste and texture and looked as though it had freezer burn. The server told us they are not frozen so that couldn’t be the case and that what we were seeing was Panko. We asked to order something else which is not something we typically do and even though it was very busy, they accommodated and were kind about it. Nice indoor and outdoor seating options, bathrooms are private room/typical bar fare. Looking forward to coming back next trip here!
