Scarlet Tavern

Likely one of the best places to grab a drink in Leadville. Actually seems to be one of the only places around that has draft beer and plenty of draft options at that. Wide open spaces with plenty of games. We walked in and the place smelled so clean, that’s a refreshing welcome. Arizona was our bartender, did a wonderful job and was such a joy to speak with.

And here I thought I was walking into a bar with live music, didn’t know the live music was trying to take me on a trip down memory lane and relive my divorce for about 2 hours. Other than that, the bar is nice and bartenders are quick and attentive. Super depressing live music vibes though. Sound good but god dog man.

Visited this bar a few times during my 5 day trip around Leadville. Classic dive bar with pool to play in the back. Filbert the bartender is a legend and has many great stories that keep you entertained. Great drinks and very reasonably priced.

The best bar in the highest elevation town in Colorado! The bartender, Filbert, was the kindest bartender I have ever encountered in my life! They had gluten free beer too! The drinks were super cheap/reasonable, I love this town!

Walked in Dec 28 at 9:25 PM, waited for a good 10 mins at the bar and I was never asked what did I want. Bartender girl saw me at least twice and nothing happened. We just turned around and walked away from this place.

This is a very sad excuse for a bar Stopped in for a few drinks with a friend and was appaled with the service and cliendiness of this estasblishment. First off we waited nearly 30 minuets for 2 beers while the bartender was busy playing videogames with his kids in the back. He finally got up to the bar he reeked of alcholol and smelled like he hadnt showered in days. We got our beers and there were straight up lip marks on my buddies glass not to mention the bar itself was sticky and wet. Ended up leaving after only one drink the bartender was too busy talking to refill our drinks or even notice us. This place is a dive bar dump with cokctail bar prices. Dont waste your time or money.

Date of visit / Jan 10th, 2024. This is the bar for you if you are looking for a smashed bartender that’s verbally abusive. Don’t purchase anything here until you get a feel for the bartenders mood or level of drunkenness. The bartender demanded ID from my 24yr old son and when he provided his valid drivers license the drunk bartender bent it, claimed it was a fake and that he was an expert. He then kicked everyone out after they paid for a round of drinks and a round of pool. He apparently does not like tourists who simply want a drink and want to experience the charms of Leadville. We’ve skied Cooper many times now as a family and I can say we will never step into the Scarlet Tavern again.

Hometown bar with spacious interior. Pool tables (3), pinball, and a stage for live music make this a vibrant hub of local entertainment!
