This place is unpretentious and down to earth. It is a locals bar; a neighborhood spot. If you are looking for super overpriced cocktails in a fancy environment, if you like to drop into casual conversation that you work at a tech company, if you enjoy the bars in Palo Alto, if you like to humble brag that you eat at Michelin star restaurants, I'm not sure this place is for you. We like it just fine. Reasonably priced drinks, very friendly bartender, not too crowded, And apparently I've heard that maybe there's a taco truck on some nights?

Think of the most cliche bar ever. Mix sports with it. And a lot of outdoor seating. But with decent pricing. That’s Steamies. Tuesday and Sunday are the days to go. Chill spot.

Looking for a neighborhood dive bar that has been around probably since before the neighborhood was built well you found it. No food, just be warned, but hopefully Bobby is your bar tender. This young kid has drive and goals and it was so much fun to chat with him on where he came from to where he wants to go. If I had stupid money I would absolutely fund him. His blueberry Moscow Mule (dates drink) was really good, I would never have thought to use blueberry vodka... but there you have it. This is a must stop... Tell him the guy with PTSD from Ft. Benning sent you... he'll know. Cheers.

First time ever going I really liked it just a small little bar and a neighborhood very hidden I've been in many bars in San Mateo I never ever knew this place existed and I lived in this area of my entire life the bar was nice and clean that pool table no parking lot parking on the street only had 2 hour limits I don't remember the bartender's name but she was very friendly when she found out my name was Victor she shared a story of her dad passing and she said she felt blessed when a Victor came by in her life I thought that was very touching anyways definitely check this place out if you're a local in town or maybe driving by on the freeway everybody was very friendly thank you for taking the time to read my short review

I got to tell you it's been awhile since I've been in Steamies. I used to hang out there many, many years ago. It was a , dank place and I loved it. Much better now. Nice bartender , good quality liquor, Basil Hayden, Whistle Pig, Stella. I had a Basil and a Stella 15 bucks. Liquor shot pours definitely on the shy side, little disappointing, not old school heavier handed like the Patio but in general I was satisfied.I will be back.

Love the atmosphere and Stan the bartender is the best host we’ve ever had. He is the reason we go there! Clean and so fun.

This is one of the best dive bars in the Bay Area, hands down.

I walked in on a Friday night and this place was empty, definitely a local dive. The bartender was too busy smoking outside to help me or my friend, so we went over to Antones instead. I'll give this place another shot in the future though, as it had some interesting decor and the drinks looked cheap.
