We’ve been here several times. This is a review of our most recent visit. Why is this three stars and not five? Certainly the view is outstanding! And the food is good, although you are paying for the view, so the food is expensive, but you’re not really coming for the food, you’re coming for the views and the craft cocktails. The pros are that the bar has valet parking, and there is EV charging, which is great. The view, of course, is a big positive. The drinks are very good. They are consistent with any other craft cocktail bar in town. All the standard high-end elements are here. And the drinks are priced understanding that the view is a big attraction as well. So, certainly not inexpensive but not over the top. Again, consistent with the other craft cocktail places in town. The cons are that there are quite a few tourists, and something really odd happened during what I assume was changeover for the staff. Our server was excellent, and then there was some rumbling and there seemed to be a bit of an argument with the staff, and lots of buzzing and moving and changing while we were there. It was a bit uncomfortable, not quite sure what was happening, or if we was going to get our server back. She disappeared for a long time, but eventually came back. She was excellent! But during that odd shift change out, she was nowhere to be found, and unfortunately, it was our time to go. In fact, we didn’t really see any servers during that shift change out, as they were all in the corner having a conversation, so something must’ve happened. Perhaps they were understaffed, or somebody came in when they weren’t supposed to. But instead of taking a few minutes to resolve, it was a lot of time to resolve. She finally did return, and we were able to get our bill. We will return and hope to come back when it is not as touristy and hopefully we will not encounter this problem again.

The Montford rooftop bar is a hidden gem in downtown Asheville. The atmosphere features beautiful panoramic views of the blue ridge mountains. There's indoor and outdoor seating available, along with local stoneware and petite glassware. The small plates menu is refined and full of flavors perfect for pairing with signature cocktails, wine, or beer. The food is thoughtful which is hard to find at a bar. Come here if you want to experience elevated bar food. Our server Michelle was kind and inviting. She offered us sunglasses to sit outside on the patio and kept tabs on us throughout the night. We tried the truffle Parmesan fries and they were amazing. Perfectly fried, dusted in parm, fresh parsley, with a side of addicting garlic aioli. Our group is apart of the Hilton family so this visit was extra special. Thank you guys!

I went recently to celebrate a friends birthday and could not have had a better experience! We got to watch a beautiful sunset, eat delicious food (the mac & cheese is very impressive) and drink incredible cocktails. & thanks to our server Michelle for taking great care of us! The whole team at the Montford was lovely.

We stopped in for drinks and to take in the amazing views! Great place and make sure to try their seasonal sangria and tart cherry cider.

My recent visit to Montford Rooftop Bar was nothing short of exceptional, largely thanks to our server, Michelle, whose outstanding service elevated our experience. Michelle went above and beyond by not only attending to our needs but also enhancing our vacation with her local insights. She took the time to recommend three hiking trails for us to explore, which added a personalized touch to our trip. The drinks at Montford Rooftop Bar were delightful, offering a perfect blend of flavors and craftsmanship. However, what truly stole the show was the breathtaking view of the mountains. From our vantage point, we were treated to a panoramic vista that perfectly complemented the ambiance of the bar. Overall, Montford Rooftop Bar provided a memorable experience that exceeded our expectations. Michelle's exceptional service, coupled with delightful drinks and stunning scenery, made our visit one to remember. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a perfect blend of hospitality, taste, and scenery.

We had a mixed experience at this bar. The service was good, and our server was very kind and attentive all night. The drinks were good, and we liked the overall atmosphere. However, when we got the bill, we were surprised and disappointed. We ordered a round of lemon drop shots, expecting regular one-ounce pours priced around $5–$8, but we were charged $15 per shot for double pours—something that was never explained to us. We didn’t ask for double pours, and it was never mentioned that they’d be served that way. On top of that, there was a $40 “bar bump” charge that no one told us about or explained. We wouldn’t have minded paying these charges if they had been explained up front, but the lack of transparency made us feel taken advantage of, especially since we had been drinking. When we asked to keep the itemized receipt so we could split the bill, our server got defensive, which made us feel even more like he was trying to hide these charges along with the automatic gratuity. We decided to visit Asheville to support local businesses, knowing that many people have been struggling and that some have chosen not to visit the area recently thinking it’s still shut down. Instead, we left feeling overcharged and misled. It’s unfortunate because we really liked the drinks and the service before this happened, but the way the charges were handled left a bad impression.
