The Orion

adding this spot to my bellingham rotation! cocktails are affordable (insanely cheap during happy hour) and the service was great. the additional bar in the back area was amazing as well and there was free live music.

This place has beer, but I really liked the cocktails. They are not fancy and they are cheap. They are straightforward, balanced, and tasty. Well one was very sweet with no acidity to balance, so do read the descriptions (or just ask the staff). The trash dog is interesting and worth a try. It'll hit the spot when drinking. It's a little messy (comes with a napkin and plastic cutlery). The atmosphere here is nice. Nice seating, dim lighting, cool decorations, and not too loud.

Since they opened up the Oddfellows Temple Room in the back, Orion has transformed from a cute but cramped bar into a spacious venue and one of my favorite places to get a drink in the city.

Great fun place for a night out with friends. It can get pretty busy in here and crowded. The drink selection is good with affordable prices

As a local to Bellingham, I was so disappointed with my experience at Orion. I was hosting a group of friends from out of state (this was our first stop of the night), and while trying to remember a large order of 8 drinks, I incorrectly said one drink wrong (accidentally said “Tito’s and Vodka” instead of “Tito’s and Soda”). Rather than the bartender asking for clarification, he immediately refused to serve me and said I was over-served and looked under the influence. As a completely sober and responsible adult, I was shocked and embarrassed in front of my guests. And especially felt judged for how I looked. Horrible experience in such a “inclusive” town. I do not recommend this location.

one of my favorite bars, great prices. i love the space themed main bar, then the spooky twin peaks vibe for the backroom.

If you have an out of state ID don’t expect to get served here. I went here with my gf and a group of friends visiting from Seattle and the bartender refused to serve, and kicked out my girlfriend and I because the bartender “didn’t feel comfortable” with my girlfriend’s valid New Mexico ID. We are both well above drinking age and I don’t appreciate getting embarrassed in front of my friends. If you’re so paranoid about serving minors and can’t figure out what a real ID looks like, why are you running a bar? I used to love this place but will not be returning.

This bar was great! So many places these days are breweries, gastropub and similar. This one stands out and for all right reasons. Loved the space theme and drinks were great. Perfect meet up place.
