The Periodic Table at Hotel Grinnell

Do NOT go here for food. Was so shocked and suprised at the low quality I didn't even remember to take a picture of anything. Low quality "ingredients ", margarehta "pizza" didn't even have basil and the "crust" was just a low quality frozen pita. Service was even worse than the food, except one friendly staff member who came from the kitchen and had no idea what was going on but was friendly.

Went here because the hours stated they open at lunchtime on Mondays, so arrived at 2pm. It looks like they have a very nice outdoor patio with fire pits. The door was unlocked, but when I walked inside, the chairs were still up on all the tables, there was music playing from a back room, and a camera pointed towards the door at the end of the bar, but no one was present. If they aren’t open on Mondays, they really should update their business hours. Gave 2 stars because the place looked nice.

Stopped there for an early dinner. The steet tacos was absolutely amazing. There are pizzas and cook in a wood oven. Only one person was working. She was great. We ordered tacos to bring home.we will most definitely be going back.

Where is anybody?!? Party of 3 walked in on 12/27/23 around 5pm when this place is advertised as open and out of approx. 30 indoor seats, only a party of 2 occupied the space. No employees of any kind front or back... all the tv's are off, half the lighting decor is off. Music playing in the kitchen area but no noise of any kind... if this is the norm then the lack of business is no surprise. Try again someday in the future & update if anything changes. UPDATE: Tried again 2.5 months later on 3/7/24 just to end up with the same situation. Walked in at 12:20pm with the place empty. Went to use the restroom and came back and nothing had changed. No customers nor employees anywhere to be seen or heard. The place is advertised to be open at noon, and just like last time everything is off. Spent 5 minutes standing around the bar/dining area. Called out "hello" multiple times during the wait; As I left I called out: "I'm leaving since I've been waiting for over 5 minutes with no service" at the doorway. All this can be verified with the cameras they have inside. Ended up taking my money to the "Big Acai" food truck parked in their parking lot instead. I'll probably try one more time months later to see if service does exist and that's it. 2ND UPDATE: Visited for the 3rd time on 4/9/24 with success this time between 4:50pm-5:10pm. Had their Buddha Bowl & 1 craft from Backpocket, total came to $25. Little pricy but the food was good.

I want to amend my previous review as I realize it may have been unfairly harsh due to my own bad day. While I initially rated the atmosphere as one star, upon reflection, I recognize that I wasn't fully attentive to your establishment, so this rating doesn't accurately reflect it. Similarly, I didn't encounter any issues during my visit, warranting a higher rating for service. However, I did not receive a greeting, which is why I rated it four stars. I appreciate your outreach and response to my review, which I find to be very classy. Upon reevaluation, I believe a three-star rating without any comment would have been more fitting. Thank you for your attention to my feedback, and I hope this revised review provides a fair assessment of my experience.

If you want any service then I advise skipping this place. I stood at the bar for 10 minutes. Both bartenders made eye contact with me several times and never once helped me. I left the bar without getting a drink. I would give zero stars if possible, but it's not so there's the reason for 1 star. The meal here was disgusting. The pork was the driest I've ever had before in my life. My personal opinion is to find another venue to eat at if you want good food and any type of service.

Stopped by for a late lunch while traveling. The street tacos (chicken) we're loaded with yummy fresh veggies and the sauce was wonderful. Also enjoyed a Lunch Lady (Bloody Mary) that was spiced just right and served with a few thin slices of tasty charcuterie. I would definitely stop by again when in the area. Yum....

It's nice to go to a restaurant that highlights and balances flavors. So many restaurants pile on the greasy mish-mashed offerings together and smothers in extreme heat or no heat. Wonderful experience to be able to taste each ingredient blended and harmonized to a flavor sum that was truly greater than the whole of its parts.
