The Star Bar Lounge

New owners completely refurbished the place right down to the kitchen and bathrooms. Unfortunately, as usual, the community didn't come through and support it, and they're forced into one last door closing party like all the past bars in Reading, and then reopen it to the masses. Nice job, Reading.

The Red Star Saloon has reopened as the Rainbow Star Pub. The original bar was a dump. The new owner completely gutted the place and rebuilt from the studs out. The place is beautiful; very bright, open and contemporary. The new owner also completely redid the kitchen and restrooms and repaved the parking lot. NOTE: As of 10/26/19 the Rainbow Star Pub has stopped operating as a bar/lounge catering to the LGBTQ community for Reading/Berks Co. The owner informed me that even though the establishment received over 1,500 "Likes" on Facebook that did not translate into that number of people coming thru the door and spending money. He stated that if half that amount (or even 25%) showed up on a regular basis he would not have had to close the place. So, after 1.75 years of dwindling support from the LGBTQ community now the 6th largest city in the state has no gay bar. Even little old Lancaster City can support a gay bar, and smaller Harrisburg has three!! The LGBTQ community should be ashamed of themselves for letting this happen. There is no good reason for this to have have transpired.

This bar is great!! Crowd was great! Drinks were great! Very clean and convenietly located. If I ever come back to Reading I hope to visit this place again.

Place is nice but very little on regular customers best time is Friday and Saturday after 11pm and only 4 about a hour.
