My name is Jose and I have lived in Tucson a good portion of my 40 years of life. I was part of the gay youth center queer voice when I was 16. I remember the Biz and Woodys and Wingspan. I remember I could go into venture and learn about Monday night, poker nights, and other random things for the community. Anyway, my my car breaks down and end up having to walk across town, maybe I’ll step in and get some water that I really need and have a beer maybe? The barTender immediately said no, stared at me, and when I tried to explain my situation, his unwillingness to show any empathy was super upsetting and im pretty sure illegal. He couldnt care less. Locally owned gay businesses of my lifetime. I really forgot what community is or what to be a decent human being is. I’ve been a server for over 12 years and I would have tipped For the water as it would’ve been a great kindness. The white older, gay men in this town that Bartender own the business Have no sense of decency and should be ashamed. You better believe that I will be talking about this to everybody because it was a very sad thing to witness let alone be treated this way. Awesome.
