We decided to give Zin a try on a Friday night, but the place appeared to be completely packed/reserved. The owner, however, really wanted us to stay and emptied some room at the bar so we can sit there. We stayed and didn't regret. The place is more about atmosphere and this friendly feel. First, I thought everyone in were regulars, but in a little bit, I felt like we were as much welcomed as regulars would've been, even though it was our first time here. My girlfriend is more about like fine-dining, while I was going to try their burger - the reviews described it quite promising. Thus, other than the burger, we ordered Pear & Artisan Cheese Flatbread with a side of House Marinated Olives. Latter were really good, I tried one, I just did not expect them to be served warm, so it was a bit of a new experience for me, but they were delicious. In her turn, my girlfriend really enjoyed the flatbread, she says cheeses were super fresh and well-blended, arugula was fresh as well, and the bottom crisp was golden brown, super thin and not a bit soggy. Burger was decent, nothing out of this world, but quite fresh and flavorful; what I'd like to mention separately is that I choose truffle fried on the side, and they were really really good. Also worth mentioning, is that Zin's crew does support local and small farms and breweries, not only by offering their produce and beer respectively, but also making notes on the menu, where those came from. I do appreciate that so much personally, as those small places bring in some spirit into common things, unlike those you can get from huge corporations, that make billions of the same products. As to the drinks, they feature a long cocktail list, as well as quite a few tap beers. The bartender lady always keeps the shaker by you, so you can make yourself a refill once done - which is a nice little touch (most places are greedy, they are unlikely to let you do so, instead of ordering another drink, I guess). On the pic below, is a cucumbertini. Therefore, as you may've guessed by now, we were pleased with a great food and outstanding service at Zin. We will definitely come back one day, menu has so much more promising stuff!

1st time visit at this restaurant 2/13/20. Had friends that set up reservations for 6:15 for dinner and looked forward spending the night with them. The place had a nice crowd but not overly busy so service should not be a problem . Initially, I had gone online and looked at the menu and was surprised that it was simple but had many intriguing options . I had heard that everything was locally sourced and that the hamburgers were the best in the area. When we sat down we were given the standard menu along with a Valentine's menu which included 3 appetizers, 3 main courses and 3 desert options. You pick and the cost was $49.00 . This is were things got complicated. Of the 4 things I wanted off of the menus they didnt have available, including the on the Valentine's menu. No fresh pasta, no fresh cake and no soup of the day. Ken, who I guess was the manager tried to explain that tomorrow everything will be available, but not tonight. My question is why advertiser food items as special when you dont have them in the back to make. Felt sorry for the waitress, which she was excellent, because she kept apologizing time after time after time. Nevertheless , I had the steak and prawns and both were excellent. The steak was better than anything I have had at any local steak restaurant in town. The prawns, which actually were just large shrimp, were also fresh and flavorful. My wife and I will give it one more try and update ratings. I'd would have given this restaurant a 5 but the circus with ordering food brought it down to a 4. Rebuttal to owners response. If you dont have the ingredients simply dont advertise the offerings.

Met my besties here for girls night/catch up session. The food was delicious and the drink menu extensive! We enjoyed every minute of our experience, especially service by Mary. Ken described the cod special so well, all 3 of us ordered it. We can’t wait to return!

I was not overly impressed by the meal I had at this strip mall restaurant. I had the chicken fried chicken entree. The breading on the chicken was very dark and almost burnt. It tasted somewhat like burnt grease. The mashed potatoes were bland as could be as were the vegetables that came with the meal. That said, my house salad was delicious as was the sausage gravy that came with my entree. We also had a wonderful server. The atmosphere in the dining area is nothing to write home about. Some sparse, mismatched wall decor on deep red walls and not much else going on. The large windows were rather dirty and look into the parking lot. I’ll probably go back and try another entree.

Update July 2024 - We continue to love visiting here! Everyone is always fabulous! Ken knows so much about the food and wine it feels like I'm getting an advanced degree every time we go! Fantastic farm to table restaurant. Incredible how hard it is to find farm fresh restaurants with organic food. Plus their service is always great and a warm atmosphere. My wife loves that it almost feels like a trip to the city. I'm happy that she's happy without having to go to Chicago. 😉

My husband and I went here with our 3 adult kids last night. 3 of us had the pasta which was tasty but definitely not homemade pasta. The flatbread and lamb meatball appetizer were delicious, we really enjoyed it. My son had a burger with firecracker fried which was outstanding. I did miss the poutine that was on their menu many years ago. The disappointment was definitely the brownie sundae. I'm sort of a brownie expert since I own Monster Munchies Bake Shop and all we make is gourmet brownies in 25 flavors. Their brownie tasted like burnt marshmallows. Although delicious in a smores, not in a brownie. I confirmed the taste with my kids , especially my son who is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in hyde Park New York. If the owners and chef ever want to taste a real brownie I will be happy to bring you a free box. The atmosphere is simple but nice. We had a wonderful family dinner experience. The staff was outstanding.
